Peoria police officer injured after being hit by car; suspect arrested

PHOENIX — A woman suspected of shoplifting on Friday night drove over the leg of a police officer, according to the Peoria Police Department.
Erin Taylor, a 31-year-old Glendale resident, was arrested on six charges after fleeing the area and eventually crashing.
An employee in the Peoria Square shopping district off Northern and 91st avenues told police around 7:45 p.m. that Taylor had shoplifted. The police officer, James Hunter, found her “standing outside of her vehicle and not following directions,” according to the police document.
Taylor is accused of then walking to her driver’s seat, getting in the vehicle and reversing into Hunter, whose leg was run over as he was pinned against his police car, according to police.
She then accelerated forward and drove away. After crashing and running on foot, Taylor was arrested.
Taylor faces charges of aggravated assault, drug possession, unlawful flight from law enforcement, DUI, firearms charges and theft charges, according to the police document.
