PHOENIX – Two weeks after a crowd wreaked havoc at Scottsdale Fashion Square, the shopping center quietly reopened Wednesday.

The site had been shut down since vandals destroyed property and looters broke into multiple stores May 30. Police estimated millions of dollars in damage to shops, including Urban Outfitters, the Apple Store and Neiman Marcus, which had filed for bankruptcy weeks before the violence.

In a post on Facebook, the mall announced it was open for business again, with hours scheduled for 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

“Welcome back friends! … We’ve missed you!” the post read.

The mall didn’t say which stores were open, but the website listed sales starting June 10 at Sur La Table cookware and two women’s clothing retailers, Windsor and Talbots.

Nearly two dozen were arrested in connection with the rampaging.

Police Chief Alan Rodbell told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s the Gaydos and Chad Show his officers did what they could with available personnel when property damage was initially reported.

Authorities eventually used chemical weapons to break up a throng they said numbered in the hundreds.
