South Mountain Freeway closure among Valley weekend restrictions
PHOENIX — A closure on the new South Mountain Freeway is among this weekend’s metro Phoenix highway restrictions, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
In west Phoenix, the southbound Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway will be closed between Lower Buckeye and Baseline roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for rubberized asphalt paving.
The southbound ramps at Van Buren Street and Buckeye Road will also be closed.
ADOT says if the paving is finished ahead of schedule, it will close the northbound South Mountain Freeway between Lower Buckeye Road and Interstate 10 from 1 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday for more paving.
In the East Valley, the southbound Loop 101 Price Freeway will be closed between Elliot Road and the Loop 202 Santan Freeway from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement improvements.
In north Phoenix, the eastbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be closed between Seventh Street and Cave Creek Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project.
Finally, Interstate 17 will be narrowed to one or two lanes in either directions near Pinnacle Peak and Happy Valley roads from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Sunday through Friday for interchange reconstruction.
