PHOENIX – Authorities charged a man with driving under the influence after a wrong-way freeway collision with an unmarked Scottsdale Police vehicle Wednesday night.

Kevin M. Chacon, 25, was arrested on multiple charges, including extreme DUI and reckless driving, police said Thursday.

Police received reports of a black pickup truck traveling south in the northbound lanes of the Loop 101 Pima Freeway near Cactus Road around 10:25 p.m.

The truck hit the police vehicle, causing minor damage, police said. Nobody was injured.

The truck then exited the freeway and headed east on Shea Boulevard.

Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers helped police stop the driver near Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Via Linda, where Chacon was taken into custody.
