PHOENIX — Amazon will be offering over 4,000 permanent full-time positions to seasonal employees hired in Arizona due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The company announced in March that it would hire 175,000 temporary full- and part-time positions across North America, including 6,500 in Arizona.

Amazon will now be offering 125,000 permanent full-time positions to those individuals “as the long-term picture becomes clearer” beginning this month, according to a press release.

In Arizona, the new jobs will be specifically for last-mile delivery and customer fulfillment, which includes picking, packing, shipping customer orders and delivering packages from delivery stations.

There are currently more than 9,500 full-time employees working in an Amazon facility in Arizona.

Permanent positions at Amazon start at $15 an hour and include benefits such as full medical, vision and dental insurance, a 401(k), continuing education programs and up to 20 weeks of parental paid leave.

The company is also investing nearly $4 billion in preventative measures to keep employees safe and help make deliveries, according to the release.

We want to hear from you.
