Dust storm rolls through East Valley on Saturday evening

PHOENIX — A dust storm hit the East Valley on Saturday evening, toppling trees in some areas.
The National Weather Service issued a dust storm warning for Chandler and the surrounding areas just before 7 p.m.

The storm included winds in excess of 40 mph, rain and lightning.

Dust storms last a few minutes, according to Maricopa County Emergency Management, and usually occur during the Valley’s summer months in the evening.
