Raytheon shuttering New Mexico operations, moving some to Tucson

PHOENIX — Raytheon Technologies Corp. is closing its Albuquerque location and will be transferring some of its operations to Tucson.
The office that will be shutting down currently employs around 200 people, the Albuquerque Journal reported last week.
In recent years, Raytheon’s Albuquerque location has worked with the Air Force Research Laboratory at Kirtland Air Force Base in order to develop modern laser and microwave weapons.
Those operations will be transferred to Raytheon Missiles and Defense headquarters in Tucson.
Raytheon spokeswoman Heather Uberuaga told the Albuquerque Journal that the company is looking to streamline its capabilities with pursuits and programs located elsewhere around the U.S.

Uberuaga added that the decision was made in the best interest of its customers and that Raytheon will work with its employees on individual employment plans in the future.
Two of those options could include being transferred to a new location or applying for a new position within the company.
All of the Albuquerque employees will receive severance packages that will include health care over the course of the severance.
