Near drowning sends 80-year-old Phoenix woman to hospital

PHOENIX — An 80-year-old Phoenix woman is in critical condition following a near drowning incident on Monday evening, authorities said.
The incident occurred near East La Puente Avenue and and S. 43rd St. where Phoenix firefighters responded to a call around 8:11 p.m., according to an email.
Prior to firefighters’ arrival, the woman had been pulled from the pool by bystanders who also had performed CPR.
Bystanders were unable to determine how long the patient had been in the pool.
The Phoenix Fire Department reported she was being transported to a local hospital at approximately 8:20 p.m.
No other information was immediately available.
