Around 12:30 p.m., the right lane and shoulder at milepost 300 — near State Route 179 — were both closed, resulting in a roughly 8-mile traffic backup south of Flagstaff, according to a press release.
For the first time since the I-17 southbound crash had been reported, traffic backup was finally said to be diminishing around 2:20 p.m.
