Woman in wheelchair dies after being struck by vehicle in Chandler

PHOENIX — A 41-year-old woman in a wheelchair died after being struck by a vehicle on Saturday night, according to the Chandler Police Department.
The incident occurred around 9:23 p.m. at the intersection of Arizona Avenue and Elgin Street just south of Frye Road.
The woman was heading west on Elgin Street when the vehicle traveling southbound on Arizona Avenue struck her, according to police.
Shortly after the Chandler Fire Department arrived on scene, the woman was pronounced dead, authorities said.
Police say investigators have ruled out speed, impairment and distraction as contributing factors to the incident.
