PHOENIX – The driver in a fatal car-pedestrian collision in Tempe on Thursday night has been arrested on manslaughter and DUI charges, authorities said.

The woman, who was not identified pending next-of-kin notification, died of her injuries.

Investigators determined the driver, 31-year-old John Valenzuela, was under the influence of alcohol at the time, police said.

He was booked on one count each of manslaughter, DUI to the slightest degree and DUI with blood alcohol content .08 or above, police said.

No other details were made available.
