PHOENIX — There will be no closures or restrictions on metro Phoenix freeways during Memorial Day weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Drivers will get a break from construction, but heavy traffic is still expected on Interstate 17 heading north at the start of the weekend and south as the weekend comes to a close.
ADOT said drivers still need to buckle up and be mindful of their speed, especially in work zones where construction is in progress.
The agency also recommended drivers check tire pressure and pack extra supplies, including water and snacks, before traveling this weekend.
