PHOENIX — CVS Pharmacy announced on Thursday an expansion of of its coronavirus drive-thru testing capabilities in Arizona.

Beginning Friday, residents can receive COVID-19 drive-thru tests at an additional 16 CVS locations, according to a press release.

The expanded drive-thru testing comes after the pharmacy retailer opened ten locations on May 15.

“As we move into a new phase of combating the pandemic and as communities begin to safely open up their local economies, we need testing to be easily accessible,” CVS Health’s Executive Vice President Troyen Brennan said in the release.

“By further expanding the number of drive-thru test sites available across our retail network, more people can be tested closer to home in a familiar setting.”

Of the 16 new testing locations, 13 are in Maricopa County.

Patients can begin registering Friday and must do so in advance online.

Test kits will be distributed at drive-thru windows and contain nasal swabs that are to be self-administered under the observation of the CVS employee.

Test results are said to be expected in approximately three days.
