Electronics company Avnet leads Fortune 500 list of best Arizona earners

PHOENIX – Phoenix-based electronics distributor Avnet topped the list of most successful companies in Arizona for 2020, according to Fortune 500.

Avnet, headquartered near State Route 143 and 44th Street, led the group of 19 and ranked No. 169 overall, with revenues of $19.5 billion.

Mining giant Freeport-McMoRan was next at No. 221 overall, with $14.4 billion. Waste management company Republic Services was next at $10.2 billion in revenue, followed by Insight Enterprises at $7.7 billion. Magellan Health rounded out the top five with $7.1 billion in revenues.

Others singled out included Scottsdale-based Taylor Morrison Home Builders at No. 567 overall; Tempe-based Carvana at No. 651 and Scottsdale-based GoDaddy at No. 787.

The magazine’s methodology ranks companies based on total revenues and include private and co-ops that “file a 10-K or a comparable financial statement with a government agency.”
