PHOENIX – OdySea Aquarium, Butterfly Wonderland and other businesses at Arizona Boardwalk will reopen Thursday with enhanced safety measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

“Our priority is to keep everyone who visits Arizona Boardwalk, as well as our employees, healthy and safe while providing a fun and engaging environment,” Arizona Boardwalk marketing executive Ran Knishinsky said in a press release Monday.

The businesses have been closed since mid-March when the statewide stay-at-home order closed nonessential businesses.

OdySea will implement touchless ticket sales, social distancing markers at exhibits, additional hand-sanitizer stations and enhanced cleaning measures.

Team members will have their temperature checked when they come into work and wear masks in public spaces.

The aquarium will also limit the number of guests inside at a time, so those planning to go should purchase tickets online ahead of time.

Tickets are sold in 30-minute time slots and guests must enter during their ticketed time.

Guests are encouraged to wear face masks, visit in groups of less than 10 and postpone their visit if they’re not feeling well.

The Kids Cove play area, animal touch exhibits and 3D movie theater are temporarily closed. Additionally, the aquarium is not hosting behind-the scenes tours at this time.

“We have worked thoughtfully and within the state’s recommended guidelines on our reopening plans as the health and wellbeing of our guests, team and animals is our top priority,” Greg Charbeneau, vice president and general manager of OdySea Aquarium said in the release.

Other Arizona Boardwalk attractions that will open are “Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition,” Pangea Land of the Dinosaurs, Laser and Mirror Maze and Surprise Your Eyes.

Outside of attractions, Arizona Territory Trading Post, Four Peaks Mining Co. and Vitality Oxygen Bar and Aqua Massage will also open on Thursday.

Various restaurants on site will open as well, including Johnny Rockets, Nékter Juice Bar, and Pizza Time.

We want to hear from you.
