PHOENIX – More than 100 firefighters battled a structure fire in south Phoenix on Sunday.

According to the Phoenix Fire Department, initial calls to 911 said there was a large industrial structure fire that could be seen from miles away.

When crews arrived to the Drake Equipment building near 19th Avenue and Interstate 17, they decided on a defensive strategy because of the fuel load and size of the building.

Crews used aerial ladders to fight the fire from above and managed to gain control over the main fire.

There are no reported injuries from the incident.

Firefighters remained on scene to put out hotspots and overhaul the structure.

Northbound and southbound traffic on 19th Avenue will be restricted between the I-17 and Lower Buckeye Road through the evening.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

We want to hear from you.
