PHOENIX — A health care company is partnering with a West Valley farm to provide produce delivery to frontline workers battling the coronavirus.

Cigna Medical Group is working to support its employees as they continue to work on the frontlines during the pandemic, they recently partnered with Blue Sky Organic Farms, a family farm located in Litchfield Park.

The partnership will provide fresh fruits and vegetables to each employee.

“We partnered with Blue Sky Organic Farms to distribute healthy, fresh, organic products to our team which seemed like a great way to support them while also supporting a wonderful local community business,” President of Cigna Medical Group, Matthew Bennett told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Friday.

Employees will go online this week and order a box of fresh produce and receive it May 14 and May 15.

“The safety and wellbeing of our team, which is about one thousand nurses, doctors, and healthcare professionals – continues to be a top priority for us,” Bennett said.

“Our team, like healthcare professionals across our community and the country, are working tirelessly on the frontlines of this pandemic and we wanted to do something to express our gratitude for their handwork and dedication.”

While produce remains in high demand and supplies are limited, Cigna believes this service will allow for a stress-free process for their employees to get healthy fresh for food delivered to their home or work.

“Additionally, we wanted to make sure we were supporting the community and we know that a lot of our farmers are experiencing decrease in demand as a lot of the restaurant businesses have cut their orders,” Bennett said .

“Our intent was really to do a ‘win-win’ that would both help, support, and recognize our team members while also helping a really critical part of our community businesses.”

Cigna is unsure how long they will offer the free produce service to their employees but is hopeful they will continue to support small businesses.
