Freeway closures in East and West Valley to restrict drivers this weekend

PHOENIX — Drivers will have to contend with closures on the Loop 101 and Loop 202 this weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

In the East Valley, pavement improvements will close the Loop 101 Price Freeway southbound between US 60 and Warner Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Both US 60 ramps to the Loop 101 southbound will also be closed during this time.

In the West Valley, more than two miles of the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway southbound will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday between Interstate 10 and Lower Buckeye Road for rubberized asphalt paving.

The same construction will close all I-10 ramps Loop 202 southbound during this time.

Also in the West Valley, the I-10 eastbound will be narrowed to two lanes for resurfacing, restricting traffic from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday between Dysart Road and and Avondale Boulevard.

The I-10 westbound will also be narrowed to three lanes in the same area, restricting traffic from 7 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

In the northwest Valley, the Loop 303 southbound will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to noon on Saturday at El Mirage Road for the installation of traffic flow sensors.

In the North Valley, interchange reconstruction will cause lane narrowing in both directions near on Interstate 17 Pinnacle Peak Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights.

Finally, the Loop 101 Pima Freeway eastbound between Cave Creek Road and State Route 51 will be narrowed to two lanes in north Phoenix from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project.

The Loop 101 eastbound on-ramp at Cave Creek Road will be closed during this time along with Hayden Road in both directions at the Loop 101.
