PHOENIX – The subject of an East Valley Silver Alert was found dead Wednesday, apparently having crashed on his mountain bike, authorities said.
James Robert “Ozzie” Wells, 67, had been missing since Monday.
His body was located with a crashed bike Wednesday afternoon near a canal in the area of Highway 587 and Goodyear Road, south of Sun Lakes, where he lived, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
Foul play was not suspected, according to an MCSO spokesman.
Wells was thought to have taken his bike out Monday night to ride at the San Tan Mountains. His family reported him missing Tuesday morning.
He was in good health and liked to ride at night to avoid the heat.
