PHOENIX — Crews rescued a worker stuck in a trench at a West Valley power generating station Tuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred at SRP’s Agua Fria Generating Station near 71st and Northern avenues in Peoria.
An SRP spokeswoman told KTAR News 92.3 FM the employee had been working in a trench that collapsed, trapping him from the waist down. She said the situation didn’t appear to be life-threatening.
Nonessential personnel were evacuated from the steam generation plant, which was built in the 1950s.
The worker was reportedly extracted around 2:15 p.m., about 90 minutes after crews first responded, and taken to a hospital.
No information about his condition was made available.
Initial reports said the man was stuck in a sinkhole.
