Gilbert agency working to pair medical staff with coronavirus hotspots

PHOENIX — A staffing agency headquartered in Gilbert is working to send medical professionals to areas of the United States hit hard by the coronavirus outbreak.
Since mid March, AB Staffing Solutions has sent over 200 registered nurses, physicians and respiratory therapists throughout the country to help stop the spread of COVID-19, according to a press release.
AB Staffing Solutions President Evan Burks said his agency has received an influx of urgent requests for emergency room RNs, intensive care unit RNs, pulmonologists and respiratory therapists.
Health care professionals are also contacting the company with the desire to treat coronavirus patients on the front lines.

“Providers are reaching out to us,” Burks said.
“They want to help by going directly into COVID-19 epicenters where they are needed the most during this pandemic.”
In an effort to maximize efficiency, the staffing company has taken steps to expedite credentialing — the process through which qualifications of medical professionals are established based on background and legitimacy.
“Our mission is to get the providers where they are needed as quickly as possible,” Burks added.
“In this situation, we don’t have time to waste.”

Prior to the coronavirus outbreak, credentialing took several weeks to complete. Now, AB Staffing Solutions administers the process within a matter of days.
“We have to act fast while making sure all healthcare providers are qualified and will provide quality care,” Burks said.
