Peoria man arrested for allegedly stabbing step-grandfather to death

PHOENIX — A man was arrested after allegedly stabbing his 89-year-old step-grandfather to death early Friday morning, according to the Peoria Police Department.
The incident took place around 3 a.m. near Peoria and 91st avenues, police said.
Police and fire personnel responded to the call and performed life-saving measures, but the victim succumbed to his injuries on scene.
The suspect, 41-year-old Shaun Gentilo, fled the scene before returning at approximately 6 a.m., according to authorities.
He was then arrested and taken into custody without incident, police said.
Gentilo was booked into the Fourth Avenue jail on first-degree murder and domestic violence charges, authorities said.
No other information was made immediately available.
The investigation is ongoing.
