PHOENIX – Lake Pleasant Regional Park will adopt new closure guidelines starting Saturday to mitigate the spread of coronavirus.
Park officials announced Friday the new weekend changes include a hard close of the park’s main entrance from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. all weekend.
There will be no new entries or reentries allowed into the park during the closure.
There also will be no same-day camping reservations allowed for Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
“This has been a learning experience for all of us, and we’ve come to realize that the COVID-19 strategies that are working well in our mountain parks do not fully meet the lake’s needs,” R.J. Cardin, Maricopa County Parks and Recreation department director, said in a press release.
The new regulations will be in place until COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.
In addition to the main entrance restrictions, the north entrance will only be open from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.; however, it may close earlier if physical-distancing standards are reached.
Any boaters will have to exit the area by 4 p.m. during the weekend.
The area was previously closed Monday through Friday and that restriction will remain in effect.
Those who have camping reservations will be contacted by staff about how to access their reservations.
There is also no shoreline or boat camping available at the lake.
The park is only accepting annual passes and card payments.
