PHOENIX – Firefighters saved a dog they found inside a burning Phoenix home Friday, reviving the pet with a Fido Bag.
A fire department representative said in an email the blaze began in the back of a home near 35th Avenue between Union Hills Drive and Bell Road before 4 a.m.
Neighbors told crews the homeowner was at work.
When crews arrived, they faced heavy smoke and flames from the patio. Once inside, they saw the dog.
The animal was responding sluggishly, they said, but perked up after 10 minutes of oxygen and cooling down.
Fido Bags for first responders are equipped with specially sized oxygen masks, bandages and burn sheets, among other items.
Firefighters said they were salvaging the owner’s belongings.
Cause of the fire was under investigation.
