Closures spread across 5 Valley freeways this weekend

PHOENIX — Closures will be spread across five Valley freeways this weekend, including through the downtown Phoenix tunnel on Interstate 10, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

In central Phoenix, eastbound Interstate 10 will be closed between the Interstate 17 stack interchange and the State Route 51/Loop 202 interchange from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday for tunnel maintenance.

The I-17 ramps to eastbound I-10 will be closed during that time.

Westbound I-10 will be also closed between the I-17 split interchange near Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and Seventh Avenue from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday for the same tunnel maintenance.

Also, westbound I-10 will be narrowed to two lanes between I-17 and 43rd Avenue from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday for lane striping.

The westbound on-ramps at 27th and 35th avenues and off-ramp at 43rd Avenue will be closed during that time.

In the East Valley, the eastbound Loop 101 Price Freeway will be closed between the Loop 202 Santan Freeway and Elliot Road from 4 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday for a widening project.

Additionally, the eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway will be closed between I-10 and the Loop 101 Price Freeway from 3 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday for lane striping.

The I-10 ramps to eastbound Loop 202 will be closed during that time.

In north Phoenix, the westbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be closed between SR 51 and Cave Creek Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a freeway widening project.

The SR 51 ramp to westbound Loop 101 will also be closed.

In the northwest Valley, southbound Loop 303 will be closed between El Mirage Road and Grand Avenue/U.S. 60 from 10 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday for installation of electronic message sign and traffic flow detectors.

In the West Valley, I-10 will be narrowed to two lanes westbound from 8 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Sunday and eastbound from 8 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday for paving.

In the South Valley, the eastbound Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway will be narrowed to one lane in areas between 17th Avenue and 40th Street from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for rubberized asphalt paving.

Finally, southbound I-17 will be narrowed one lane and northbound I-17 will be narrowed to two lanes from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday and Monday for interchange reconstruction.
