Walgreens to provide 2 coronavirus drive-thru test locations in Arizona

PHOENIX — Gov. Doug Ducey announced Tuesday that Arizona will be one of seven states where Walgreens will conduct drive-thru coronavirus testing at two separate locations.
Arizona is one of 14 states where Walgreens will provide drive-thru coronavirus testing, Ducey said during a press conference.
More than 44,000 COVID-19 tests have been administered in Arizona, and Ducey says much more is needed.
“There’s not a governor in the country who doesn’t need more testing,” he added.
The locations of the drive-thru testing will be made available online when they are determined, according to the governor.

Once the sites are operating, Walgreens will use an online assessment tool that will direct patients to a site for drive-thru testing. Appointments will have to be made in advance.
The service will be set up outside stores and use Abbott’s new ID NOW COVID-19 test, which can produce positive results as fast as five minutes and negative results within 13 minutes.
The company said its drive-thru locations — which will be spread across Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Tennessee and Texas — will test 3,000 people per day.

Walgreens’ first drive-thru testing site was utilized in the Chicago area on March 21.
Tuesday morning, Arizona Department of Health Services reported an increase of 104 new coronavirus cases, bringing the state total to 3,806 with a death toll of 131.
