Valley respiratory therapists head to Colorado to help coronavirus patients

PHOENIX – Four Banner Health respiratory therapists traveled to Colorado this weekend to help coronavirus patients.

The therapists will spend two weeks in Greeley, Colo., to help the area with the large number of patients.

“Every case seems to be a little different,” respiratory therapist Jessica Stingle said in a press release Sunday.

“We care for these people and make sure they are getting the best care they possibly can from us and our nursing staff. We work one-on-one with the nurses and physicians.”

Stingle has treated several patients at Banner Boswell Medical Center in Sun City.

The therapists also have option of extending their trip for an additional two weeks.

Banner Health previously deployed a team of ten nurses from Arizona to Greeley to help care for COVID-19 patients.

Five of those nurses returned to the Valley over the weekend while the others will remain for an additional two weeks.

The Banner health care workers were able to travel on a private plane that Phoenix-based Swift Transportation donated so they could quickly travel and stay isolated from the general public.

As of Sunday afternoon, Colorado reported a total of 7,303 cases with 290 deaths, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
