PHOENIX — A 2-year-old girl who was pulled from a pool in Glendale on Wednesday has died, authorities said Thursday.

The girl was found by her father in the backyard pool near Northern and 51st avenues, the Glendale Fire Department said in an email.

When fire crews arrived, the girl was not breathing and didn’t have a pulse.

She was transported to a local hospital, where she later was pronounced dead.

There was no pool fence at the home or child safety locks on the doors, Glendale police said in an email.

Police said the parents were in the backyard, with the husband working on renovations, with the girl and her 5-year-old brother.

After the mother went inside, the father went looking for the children and found the girl in the pool, police said.

The investigation into the incident was ongoing.
