PHOENIX — After restaurants across the state were forced to cease sit-in dining to help stop the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, Tempe Marketplace is creating a multi-restaurant, no-contact drive-in experience.

The process works by pulling into a designated parking spot at the northeast lot by Panera Bread, downloading the OneDine app and scanning a QR code on the sign.

The QR code brings up a variety of restaurants that people can order from, and then proceed to pay on their phone.

The restaurant of choice receives the order and a crew member delivers the packaged-up food to the car.

Participating restaurants include Cold Stone Creamery, Smashburger, Panera Bread, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Churroholic, It’s All Greek 2 Me, Yogis Grill, Genghis Grill and Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que.

“We are thrilled to provide a safe dining destination and easy ordering options to the Valley during this time,” Emilie Andrews, regional marketing director at Tempe Marketplace’s parent company, said in a press release.

Semi-truck drivers can also take advantage of the experience through the use of larger spaces with a taller sign that can be scanned from their window.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected” executive order to combat the spread of COVID-19, which directed restaurants to take-out dining service only among other restrictions, is active until at least the end of April.

We want to hear from you.
