PHOENIX – As coronavirus spreads across Arizona, shutting down businesses and closing schools, Gov. Doug Ducey introduced an initiative Tuesday designed to bring together those who need help and those who want to give it.

ArizonaTogether.org includes the AZ Coronavirus Relief Fund, that will direct money to frontline medical personnel, support for nonprofits that run food banks, homeless shelter and domestic violence facilities, and online learning.

The site can “be an outlet for people who are saying, ‘Hey, what can I do?'” Ducey said on KTAR News 92.3 FM’s The Mike Broomhead Show shortly after the website launched.

The resource guide lists how to find help with personal finances, job searches, child care, other community services, mortgage and housing issues and more.

The Arizona Cardinals contributed $1 million.

“Here’s the Cardinals and [team ownership led by CEO Michael] Bidwill family leading the way, and we’re very grateful,” Ducey said.

There are also resources for businesses and volunteer opportunities.

“We continue to see a need for donations and volunteers to help Arizona beat this pandemic,” Dr. Cara Christ, director of the Arizona Department of Health Services said in a press release.

“Our food banks, hospitals, youth centers, and nonprofits serving the community all need support.”

Ducey on Tuesday also issued an executive order to delay evictions for renters affected by COVID-19.

The order will last for 120 days.

“Nobody should be forced out of their home because of COVID-19,” Ducey said.

We want to hear from you.
