Costco adding extra hours for senior shoppers in wake of virus outbreak

PHOENIX — Costco is adjusting its schedule for safety of its senior members to fight the threat of coronavirus.
The company announced Saturday it was offering special hours for members 60 years of age or older on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. beginning this upcoming Tuesday.
Bulk shopping has seen a spike in business as families and consumers look to stock up on home goods for potential long-term lockdowns and home quarantines.
Senior citizens are among the most at-risk patients to contract the COVID-19 virus that has swept the nation.
According to the Costco website, there are nine Valley locations, including six in Phoenix.
The chain also has locations in Glendale, Mesa and Scottsdale.
Arizona announced on Saturday that the state had eclipsed 100 total cases of COVID-19.
State health officials on Friday announced the first death due to the virus, a Maricopa County man in his 50s.
