PHOENIX – Forecasters anticipated a rainy Wednesday in metro Phoenix, with higher elevations outside of the city possibly getting as much an inch.
“It should be pretty widespread,” Bianca Feldkircher with the National Service in Phoenix told KTAR News 92.3 FM, “but it won’t last as long as this (past) system.”
The latest system comes after the Valley had four consecutive days of more than a quarter inch of rain.
The round of showers were expected to hit after 7 a.m. and keep coming down before letting up in the evening.
There is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms (hail/wind) and excessive rainfall that could lead to localized flooding this afternoon and evening. #azwx #cawx pic.twitter.com/fT9QcorWa2

Meanwhile, a winter weather advisory is in effect for the high country from 6 p.m. Wednesday night to 6 a.m. Thursday.
The snow was already coming down early Wednesday morning in the northern part of the state.
SNOW is accumulating up north. Remember to slow down, leave room between cars, turn on your lights and if you see snowplows, stay well behind and don't pass. #knowsnow #aztraffic pic.twitter.com/wLKomZ5eFa
