Scottsdale among top 10 list of happiest US cities
PHOENIX — An annual ranking has identified America’s “happiest cities.”
Among a WalletHub list that has ordered 182 U.S. cities, Scottsdale ranked as the 8th happiest in the country.
The personal finance blog arrived at its conclusions by measuring three factors: emotional and physical well-being, income and employment and community and environment.
The three factors were measured on a 100 point scale; emotional and physical well-being was given the most weight at 50 points, while the other two categories each consisted of 25 points.
Scottsdale was joined on the list by eight other Arizona cities: Gilbert 23rd; Chandler 33rd; Peoria 38th; Tempe 44th; Mesa 69th; Glendale 104th; Phoenix 119th and Tuscon 123rd.
Gilbert also had the second-lowest rate of divorce and separation on the list.
The list was based on the 150 most populated cities in the country, plus at least two of each state’s most populated cities.
In order, WalletHub’s five happiest cities in America are: Fremont, California; Plano, Texas; San Jose, California; Irvine, California and Madison, Wisconsin.
