3 new coronavirus cases diagnosed, increasing Arizona’s total to 9

PHOENIX – Arizona has three new cases of coronavirus, bringing the state’s total to nine, health officials announced Wednesday morning.
Pinal County said it had two of the cases. They are from the same household as the county’s three previous cases. The new cases are people over 60 years old who are recovering at home.
The third new case is in Maricopa County, the third overall in metro Phoenix.
The Maricopa County Department of Public health said the patient is a man in his 90s who is recovering in the hospital in stable condition.

One case was announced earlier this week in Pima County, the first in southern Arizona.
Seven of Arizona’s cases are classified as presumptive positive, meaning testing was done at state labs and was yet to be confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Eight of the cases are classified as resulting from person-to-person contact, and one is travel related, according to Arizona Department of Health Services website.
The AZDHS has been posting online updates about test results each morning.
As of Wednesday morning, there had been 100 tests administered in Arizona for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
Of those, 59 have been ruled out, with 32 results pending.
In the Tuesday morning update, 84 people had been tested, with 51 cleared and 27 results pending.
Nobody in Arizona has died from the virus, which has infected more than 1,000 in the U.S. and over 100,000 globally.
