The president is tone deaf

Sep 18, 2013, 5:55 PM | Updated: 5:56 pm

I submit to you that our president is tone deaf. This was evidenced by his partisan remarks after Monday’s terrible tragedy in our nation’s capital.

On Monday, 34-year-old Aaron Alexis opened fire at Washington DC’s Navy Yard. In the aftermath, we learned that 12 innocent people lost their lives and eight others were left injured. Another senseless shooting leaving our commander in chief to comfort a grieving nation. However, his remarks went way beyond comfort and assurances.

You may not have caught it, since most networks pulled away from the president’s speech immediately following his specific remarks on the shooting. After commenting on Alexis’ rampage, the president went on a rampage of his own, leaving those in the media stunned.

The president, who regularly accuses the Republicans of playing partisan politics, continued with his scheduled remarks on the economy, accusing the Republicans of wanting to hurt people. Though his comments were designed as a precursor to the coming battle over government spending, Obamacare and the debt ceiling, this was the wrong time to make such comments.

“I cannot remember a time when one faction of one party (Republicans) promises economic chaos if it can’t get 100 percent of what it wants,” said Obama. “That’s never happened before, but that’s what’s happening right now. Forcing a shutdown would be the height of irresponsibility.”

A president using the moments immediately following a tragic and deadly event to advance his political agenda is the true height of irresponsibility. And that’s just a sample of his speech.

His press secretary came to his defense.

“I understand that some Republicans are trying to make something of this,” Jay Carney said. “The president spoke about the Navy Yard at the very top of his briefing.”

Well, good for the president. I guess we should give him credit for at least acknowledging the “cowardly” act committed by Aaron Alexis, prior to his partisan political bullying ploy.

Once again I submit to you, this president is tone deaf.

Is NBA star LeBron James an idiot, too?

No matter how you slice it, Donald Sterling, the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, is an idiot. Everything that spews from his mouth is drenching in stupidity, insensitivity and ignorance.
