Now that we have had a few days to digest Miley Cyrus’ MTV Video Music Awards performance, listen to the plethora of talk show pundits air their disapprovals and be subjected to the rants and raves of the nation’s leading feminists, I have one simple observation…absolutely brilliant.
Whether you approve or disapprove of her antics, in one evening, Miley made herself the talk of the town and relevant once more. One of the most difficult things for a childhood star to overcome is to overcome the transition from childhood star to adulthood star while remaining interesting and employable. She is no longer type casted, proving her performance a huge success.
The majority of us, whether we will admit it or not, are curious to see what Miley will do next. Though I was not personally a fan of her performance and would be outraged if it was my daughter (thank you honey for giving me boys), Hollywood knows we are curious, making her sellable and worth a lot more money than she was Sunday afternoon.
Let’s face it; this generation is void of our generation’s Madonna. Perhaps, Miley’s goal is to fill that gap.
Unfortunately for her, she will be under tremendous pressure to produce relevant hits. Now will we find out how talented she really is?
What about her father? Are we supposed to feel for Billy Ray Cyrus? I don’t. He is the one that subjected us to Achy Breaky Heart. That is the only unforgivable sin this family has committed.
