Police arrest man in fatal stabbing of Glendale teen
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Glendale police have arrested a man accused of stabbing and killing a 14-year-old boy during an altercation over a stolen bicycle, authorities said Friday.
Rudy Jaramillo, 30, was arrested Thursday in connection with the November stabbing of Elijah Ochoa-Gamez. He faces charges of 2nd degree murder.
Authorities say the teen’s brother and an adult living with them confronted Jaramillo and a women they believed stole a bicycle from their home.
Witnesses told police that the suspected thieves and a third man later returned to the victim’s home with a pitbull.
Jaramillo allegedly pulled out a knife and threatened the adult, and Ochoa-Gamez was stabbed while trying to wrestle him to the ground.
Police say Jaramillo was stabbed in the chest and had defensive wounds on his arms.
