Stand back everybody … there’s a tsunami coming and you won’t be able to identify the big wave because it will be green.
That’s green, the color of money, and green, the color of marijuana. Colorado announced this week that the total tax revenue coming to the state from the first month of recreational pot sales was — wait for the sound effect … bong! — $2 million.
That’s just for January.
Combine that with additional tax revenue coming in from Colorado’s medical marijuana sales, and the colorful state wound up with $3.5 million in the state treasury.
The figures are expected to increase dramatically — like $40 million for fiscal 2015. Now, can we not all agree that no matter what side you’re on in the cannabis controversy, money — big money — seems to consistently cause people to change positions. Why, in a few years that kind of cash could elect Snoop Dogg for president.
