East Valley high school locked down for about an hour after getting threat

PHOENIX – An East Valley high school was placed on lockdown for about an hour Monday morning while authorities investigated an unspecified threat.
Gilbert police told KTAR News 92.3 FM there was no active threat at Highland High School and the campus was secure during the lockdown, which was lifted around 8:30 a.m.
Students who weren’t on campus when the lockdown went into effect weren’t allowed in while the investigation was ongoing.
8:40 update: The lockdown at Highland High School has been lifted-the school is secure. We will have an increased police presence on campus throughout the remainder of the day.

Highland High posted the following message on its website at 8 a.m.:
Highland High is still on lockdown, police are investigating and working to clear the campus as soon as possible. Please note students may have been turned away this morning and sent home if they arrived post-lockdown. All students who are on campus are safe inside the school and are being supported by staff.
The school, which is located on Guadalupe Road between Recker and Power roads, first posted about the lockdown at 7:30 a.m.
No other information was immediately available.
