PHOENIX –  Arizona State University and Creighton University announced on Friday a health care partnership to bring more medical professionals to the southwest.

The two-way partnership will provide unique benefits to Arizona State and Creighton students as Creighton prepares to open a $100 million campus in midtown Phoenix in 2021.

“ASU is committed to advancing the highest quality education and use-inspired research, and to collaborating with forward-thinking partners like Creighton University to enhance accessibility and success for 21st century learners,” ASU President Michael Crow said in a press release.

ASU students will receive priority consideration for enrollment in three of Creighton’s health sciences doctoral programs. The programs are in pharmacy, occupational therapy and physical therapy.

Meanwhile, Creighton students will have the opportunity to participate in on-campus research projects and supplemental education at ASU.

“We are resolved that through our new Phoenix campus, Creighton University will become a major provider of health care professionals to this great city and state,” Creighton president Daniel Hendrickson said in the press release.

The partnership builds on the relationship between Phoenix and Creighton, who have partnered since 2005. Since then, Creighton students have had the opportunity to participate in medical rotations in the Valley.
