Cardinals pulled their own Patriot Act

Didn’t you just love it?

Even if you are not a football fan and your idea of headbanging competition is synchronized swimming in the Olympics, you still must be smiling after yesterday’s stunning upset of the New England Patriots by this year’s edition of the undefeated Arizona Cardinals.

Sure, they’re only 2-0, but Sunday they were playing what some have called the best team in the NFL, with the quarterback that some have listed as the best ever to play the game and they played in New England — the East Coast where, most of the time, we’ve played like a team that just got off an overnight flight from Zambia.

The Cardinals were two-touchdown underdogs and starting their second-string quarterback who has been saddled with happy feet and unhappy fans.

Even this early in the season, Arizona football fans have their Lucha Libre masks ready to put on just as soon as it’s time to jump off the bandwagon.

I know it’s only the second game of the season, but can we all just proudly dwell on one thing: Cardinals 20, Patriots 18!

I’m Pat McMahon.
