PHOENIX — Heat up the waxing oil and turn on some Michael McDonald this Valentine’s Day.
After surveying more than 4,600 people from across the country, House Method, a website focused on researching and reviewing home products, compiled a ranking of every states’ top romantic comedy from Rotten Tomatoes’ list of top 150 rom-coms. And it appears Arizona loves itself some Steve Carell.
Coming in as the state’s top rom-com was “The 40-Year-Old Virgin.”
Arizona wasn’t the only one to dig Andy, Cal and the rest of the bunch as 18 other states ranked the film as top dog. The next closest movie was “Bridesmaids,” which came in as 11 states’ favorite. “13 Going on 30,” “500 Days of Summer,” “Wedding Crashers” and “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” were liked by multiple states.
A total of 13 comedies cracked the overall list, from “Under the Tuscan Sun” to “Wedding Crashers.”
Looking at age, the website also found those born from 1970 to 1999 favor “The 40-Year-Old Virgin.” Interestingly enough, those born in the 1940s took a liking to “Wedding Crashers” above all else.
In addition to Arizona, other states in the Southwest, such as Texas and Nevada, also chose the action-figure collecting, bike-riding and awkward 2005 movie.
