Phoenix PD: Woman causes vehicle collision after pointing gun at driver

PHOENIX — A woman is facing charges after she allegedly tried to rob a driver at gunpoint in the West Valley on Saturday night.
The woman is being identified as 23-year-old Denis Orellana, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Police say Orellana approached a driver for a ride after 7 p.m., but then pulled out a gun and pointed it at the 23-year-old male motorist.
During the altercation, the driver then crashed into another vehicle near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road.
According to authorities, Orellana attempted to flee the scene but was stopped and held by witnesses until police arrived.
She was arrested and is being charged with weapons violations, armed robbery and theft of means.
It is unknown whether or not anybody was injured as a result of the incident.
