Arizona DPS trooper involved in serious injury accident in West Valley

PHOENIX – An Arizona state trooper was among five people injured in a collision Friday morning that shut down part of a Grand Avenue intersection in Surprise, authorities said.
One person was hospitalized with serious injuries, and four others suffered minor injuries, according to Surprise Fire-Medical.
The state trooper was among those with minor injuries, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on westbound Grand/U.S. 60 at RH Johnson Boulevard, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
RH Johnson was closed in both directions at Grand, and all but the left lane on Grand was blocked, ADOT said.
Around 11 a.m., DPS said it will be a few hours until the restrictions are lifted.

The streets were reopened around 1:30 p.m., according to ADOT.
