Who is Mick Foley? If you find yourself asking that question, do two things. First, click the play button at the top of this story and listen to his interview with me. Second, go watch him perform Sunday, Feb. 8 at Stand Up Live! in Downtown Phoenix.
Foley is known for his professional wrestling. Yes, I know it’s “not a sport” but it is sports-entertainment — getting in a ring and “wrestling” with a guy, making it look incredibly painful (in many cases with Foley, it was).
After wrestling around the world for years, he decided to write about his experiences in a number of best-selling books.
I’d never spoken with Foley before but I always had a feeling he was a very genuine, down-to-Earth guy who you could sit and talk with for hours. Unfortunately, I didn’t even have an hour. Fifteen minutes with him confirmed my suspicions though. He’s a larger-than-life guy who’s comfortable in his own skin and just wants to put a smile on your face.
I talked with him about what people can expect from his stand-up show, how he handles criticism and what women can expect if they’re in the audience when he’s on the stage.
