The Weekly DownLloyd: Top stories and people of 2013

As the producer of Mac & Gaydos this is my own unique, weird, wacky and, at times, warped look at the years seven biggest people stories.
7. The Yarnell Hill Fire and the Granite Mountain Hotshots
The Yarnell Hill Fire was the deadliest firefighter disaster since the 9/11 attacks. The fire itself took about two weeks to fully contain and the loss of the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots will be mourned and debated for years to come.
Does blame need to be placed on an individual or entity or do tragedies happen at times? That’s a major question that will continue to be debated as we enter the new year.
6. Pope Francis
He became the Archbishop of Buenos Aires in the late ’90s and went on to become a Cardinal in 2001. Before entering the seminary Pope Francis worked as a chemical technician and of all things a night club bouncer!
Time says he’s the Person of the Year. And I understand why, but to me you don’t get credit for being person of the year after coming in and not doing a terrible job. Pope Benedict lift under somewhat shady circumstances and Pope Francis has a ways to go to clean up the mess he left.
5. Miley Cyrus
She twerked her way into our hearts in August at the VMA’s but that wasn’t all Miley Cyrus did in 2013. Her fiance and her parted ways, she released a new album, was named artist of the year by MTV, hosted SNL and was the most-searched person of the year on Google.
