The 2013 Summer Solstice was Friday!
It was the first official day of summer! To celebrate, here are some fun facts about SUMMER:
The amount of times a cricket chirps increases when it gets hot. If you count the number of chirps over a 15-second span and then add 37, the result is an approximation of the temperature in Farenheit.
The Eiffel Tower gets bigger in the summer. The Eiffel Tower actually grows by up to six inches in summer because, as the weather heats up, the metal structure expands, inching it slightly higher.
When someone says we’re in the “Dog Days of Summer,” do you know when that is? It’s the weeks between July 3 and August 11. It’s know as the “Dog Days of Summer” in honor of the Dog Star.
