Some little-known facts about North Korea

Apr 9, 2013, 2:05 AM

North Korea has been threatening a nuclear strike against the United States and South Korea for weeks.

ABC News legend Sam Donaldson told us that the North Korean threat has hit about a seven out of 10.

In researching North Korea, we discovered how strange and bizarre this country has become over the years.

Here are a few examples.

• If you live there, you can’t turn off the government radio installed in your home, only reduce the volume.

• Over 150,000 North Koreans live in a total of six prison camps surrounded by electrified barbed wire.

• North Korea groups its citizens into 51 social categories, graded by loyalty to the regime.

• Four in five of North Korean children suffer from malnutrition because food is poorly distributed.
