After a lengthy delay due to technical problems, the first batch of Iowa caucus results were released Tuesday afternoon.
With 62% of precincts reporting, South Bend (Indiana) Mayor Pete Buttigieg received 26.9% of delegates, edging out Sen. Bernie Sanders for the top spot.
Sanders received 25.1% of delegates, but held a slight lead over Buttigieg in the popular vote.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren was third with 18.3% of delegates while former Vice President Joe Biden was fourth with 15.6%.
Every Democratic caucus winner in Iowa since 2000 has gone on to win the party’s presidential nomination.
More than a third of the 1,700-plus Democratic caucuses in Iowa still need to be calculated.
There was no immediate indication on when the full results would be available.
Technical problems delayed the release of results from the first-in-the-nation contest, leaving campaigns and the public in the dark.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar picked up three Iowa delegates at Monday’s Iowa satellite caucus in Queen Creek, with two delegates each going to Biden, Buttigieg and Warren.
It was one of four satellite caucus locations in Arizona.
