PHOENIX — Three pedestrians were hospitalized Thursday evening after a vehicle crashed into a bus stop in Phoenix, authorities said.
Phoenix Fire Capt. Rob McDade told KTAR News 92.3 FM that the incident occurred just before 7 p.m. on Greenway Parkway between Cave Creek Road and 32nd Street.
Phoenix police said Friday that a 24-year-old man on the sidewalk by the bus stop suffered extremely critical injuries. Additionally, a 17-year-old boy suffered critical injuries and a 46-year-old man suffered serious injuries.
Police said a Volkswagen GTI driven by a 22-year-old woman was making a left turn from 27th Street to eastbound Greenway Parkway when it collided with a Nisan Altima driven by a 56-year-old woman traveling eastbound on Greenway.
The Nissan veered to the right after the impact and struck the pedestrians on the south side of Greenway.
McDade said the driver remained on scene. Phoenix police said impairment didn’t appear to be a factor.
“It’s just an unfortunate accident,” McDade said.
Police said Friday he investigation was ongoing.
